Katharine qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist, gaining her first degree from The University of Southampton in 2003. After qualifying, she worked at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in London for her first 2 years as a Physiotherapist and then moved to Cambridge in 2005 as a Senior Physiotherapist at Addenbrookes’ Hospital. She has continued to work there ever since, specialising in Paediatrics and becoming the Clinical Specialist in Paediatric Orthopaedics in 2014.
In 2011, having completed an additional two year Masters degree at the Royal Veterinary College, Katharine qualified as a Category ‘A’ Member of ACPAT1 with an MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy. In 2012 she joined Kate Hesse at On Track Physiotherapy Ltd, a Veterinary Physiotherapy service specialising in Thoroughbred racehorses, covering referrals from Rossdales and working in some of the leading racing yards in Newmarket. Katharine also now works at Rossdales Diagnostic Centre two afternoons a week (Tuesday and Friday) as the practice’s resident Veterinary Physiotherapist, whilst continuing her work with humans as a Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist in the NHS two days a week.
Katharine has extensive experience as a Physiotherapist in both human and equine fields and has worked with horses competing at the very top levels of their discipline. Career highlights to date have been working with champion flat-race fillies: The Fugue, Taghrooda and Rizeena whilst working for Kate Hesse of On Track Physiotherapy Ltd. Now working closely with Rossdales Veterinary team at the Diagnostic Centre, she is able to provide specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment for horses as part of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring every horse receives the very best care.
Katharine lives with her husband Edward and their two daughters in West Suffolk. Edward is a Clinical Specialist in adult Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Director of Grosvenor Physiotherapy Newmarket. Katharine has always been passionate about horses, having grown up around them, with her father training and racing Point-to-Pointers and Team Chasing at national level. Katharine has ridden all her life and competed in a range of disciplines throughout her childhood and early adult life, however a busy work and family life means she is ‘in between horses’ at present!
